Meeting

I had a nice meeting with Elizabeth (Fine Little Day) on Sunday when she was in Prague. Elizabeth in real life. We talked about different things, for about two hours, and were interrupted by Domik all the time who had his stuff to say. We had a good time.

Dear friends

Dear friends, I am little out of the blog world right now, because my mind is occupied by the Monadology of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Sympathetic man, his somewhat crazy system on how the world works is actually quite appealing. Being also a mathematician, normal for a philosopher of the time, his mathematic conclusions are considered far more realistic than his philosophy. However, this is just todays point of view, philosophy has a little importance for people today.

Anyway, despite of that, I am supposed to do an exam on it and I am little freaking out. So if I don't keep up with you on your blogs the reason is this.

The second picture shows our Crocodile Car in the manner of Richard Scarry. The fox painting is a find in a second-hand, the same like this one. We bought it for Domik's room before he was born and then forgot about it. Just recently, he rediscovered it and want it to have it hanged in his room. The last picture is the Monadology manuscript.

Taking Train

These pictures are from few months ago. They show bridges and train station along a wooden train tracks. I let my kid play by himself for longer time then usually. Until then I didn't know I can get such achievements from him just by letting him be by himself. Until then I had an idea that I should spent my free time with him as much as I could. But apparently it is not like that. He can immerse in his little kind of unstructured playing while I am sitting on the sofa staring out of the window, thinking about the "immortality of a beetle."

Japanese

Straight from Japan, my give away award arrived. She was thrilled to send something to such a mysterious country, I was happy to receive a package with a scent of far distances.
Just the way it was packed pleased me. Paper balloons, decorative tapes and a piece of dishcloth with drawn instructions how to use it, how to wipe my mouth with it and such. Does anyone know what I could do with the balloons? I like them, that would be all right, I even have one from before, but....
What was the original idea in Japan, I wonder.

Head among Butterflies

Late - as always, but carnival mask just occured to make when I tried to do monotyps with my little guy. We painted (or did I painted it?) half of the face and printed it on other so that the face was symmetric and little smudged. The same with butterflies, this time our common work.

50s

Book on 1950s fabrics, by Victoria and Albert Museum, The Fifties. I had to have it after I had seen a post on it by La Casita. Thank you Casita! Scroll down, two posts bellow there is our 1950s fabric reflecting in a mirror in our room. My mum bought it in that time in Plzeň in some minor shop, considering that not much nice stuff was available at the time here, it was a good find. We had two, in the early 1990s I made a pair of wide pants out of it and I wore them till they completely wore out. They were classy.

Our Winter Holiday

We went to see grandma and granddaddy for a few days. We went sledging, it started snowing on our very first day, we had it well planned.
The puppet theatre on the fourth picture is a pretty amazing case. I don't know how common these are but this one hasn't changed since it started to play some hundred years ago. Same old puppets, same backdrops, same sound effects. The fairy tales are kind of classy and kids stamp their feet before beginning the same way like we used to do when we were little. The entrance fee was equal to 0,50 euro.
The interesting thing is that the theatre isn't considered rare, antique, unique or too old, although people are aware that it is old, but they don't go there for the antiquity of it. It is a theatre that has always been like that, it lives in no time and parents keep sending their kids there not because of tradition, but because there is nothing else there.
