Cooking

Mentioning being at the cottage the other time, it comes to me how well I am always fed there. My friend Andrea and her sister enjoy hanging out around the stove like I have never seen it with two café regulars on maternity leave before. Not only they cook special lunch and dinner, they collect plums or currants or nuts while kids (and one mom) nap after lunch, bake cakes, make marmalade, pickle gherkins, bottle goose-berries, tomatoes and who knows what else and at the same time prepare little canapes, nibbles and spreads for evening. My son eats there no problem. Everything that they make I cook back at home again.

Anyhow I am not able to create the same attitude for my self. In the end I find harder to make up a meal than actually cook it. I am lazy to think about it. For a short time I even followed a weekly menu of a café in the Kunstgeschichte Bibliothek in Munich that was on-line. I was lucky to eat there for several weeks some time ago, they had one meal a day so you ate what they served you and I could rely on them, everything there was very tasty. So out of nothing I started to cook every meal they had announced on-line. I had to make up the recipe but it was easy. We ate exactly the same what they had in distant Munich in one little café that is not even for public. I felt like it was my conceptual art piece. Then there was an error on their page and I stopped. I don't know if the error and my cooking were related....

This time I borrowed pictures, the links are bellow them.

Sounds (and looks) like a great atmosphere in that cottage.

Hahahaha! I love it. I hate thinking up meals as well...I get my sister to suggest something and then I just make it as well. I just invent how the recipe should go; that is the easy part. It's thinking the stuff up that is hard.

I don't enjoy the routine of daily cooking, and I hardly ever plan meals ahead. Sometimes I get a craving for a particular dish, and set out to make it, but usually I just cook what's available either in my fridge, or in my garden.
