Pictures

My husband dug this one out in some "bazar" (that is what second hand stores are called here) along with two other ones that I will show eventually. It is a photograph, a snap like from a puppet show, animated film or whatsoever. The frame is nice old one, so is the pretty aged paper mount inside. A traveling couple staring at the wanders of exotic Japan. How Europeans imagine Japan. Getting close. The lady holds a handbag with letters KLM. It is a souvenir from a travel to Japan, handed to a surprised inhabitant of Domažlice (a town where we got the picture) at the airport in Tokyo. Back in the 60s.
Any other ideas?

How interesting that you should call a flea market "bazar"! Did you ever read "Orientalism" (in which Orient is actually more Middle East than the Far East)? That's what that image and your comments make me think of.

Yes, the colors are kind of interesting, I think the picture faded over the years. It faded into perfect color scheme.
What I also like about it is thus discreet way of advertising.
It still keeps the feeling of a puppet show for me, however.

As Francesca says it is curious to call flea markets that way. and more curious those discoveries. I loved to get lost in your city, was so incredible.
