Holiday

Trip to Barcelona is coming soon. We are reading in a little Catalan vocabulary in our guide book. It does not have words as polar bear or kangaroo and it disappoints Dominik.
I want to take "Spanish reading" with me since I have always had a strange habit of taking something completely out of place with me to read during my holiday, as books in Italian to America or Polish and depressive essays to the Greek coast. I might end up reading Borges. It is close, anyway.
Oh, and travel books by Čapek from 1930s, they are pretty neat, fresh and nice, and interesting after all, Spain was so different ..., one can say.

Bon voyage! I will enjoy all the Praha has to offer while you are away from the Hlavní město while you are experimenting with Catalan in beautiful Barcelona! Was gone from Praha for a year and a bit and am surprised at how much has changed in that time (some favourite stores are gone, more and more buildings in the centre seem abandoned; but my favourite café - MamaCoffee - is thankfully going strong :)). zdravím, Ellen

I didn't know Capek wrote about England. I must get a copy of that. There was a brilliant essay by Capek translated in one of Kurt Vonnegut's books, comparing the delights of childhood in a small town and the countryside. I loved every line of it.
