First picture: this is the way they built in Southern Bohemia until the 19th century. There are a few villages that still have majority of these farm houses. Look at the tree, looks as old as the house itself.

Second picture: I was wandering why I felt like putting these two pics together and there is actually that theater portal that is little like the gate into the farm. And there are other things, too, like village houses and folk theater or something. The theater is paper and was found at my friend's cottage when she bought it. Click on it.

What a great find (the theater)! And what a great farm house! Is it built around a central courtyard? Happy Sunday, Magda!

Wow, the theater is beautiful, it has such a good combination of colors. And I like the pattern on the farm house. Similar patterns can be found in Spain but in Norway, houses are made of wood and have nothing like that. Very interesting.

It might have been originally one farmhouse with a courtyard in between, a house and a so called dwelling for retired parents on the other side, today it looks like two different holiday cottages.

when you mentioned the gingerbread house, were you referring to hansel and gretel story?
